With only a matter of weeks now before Christmas I should think that most of us have at least thought about buying presents for our loved ones.  I should also think that there are a fair few of us who find the whole process of finding “the perfect gift” extremely stressful.  This blog looks at the complex issue of gift giving and tackles the socially awkward issue of gift vouchers.

In the last couple of weeks this blog has been looking at how heat can be used within massage treatments to benefit the body.  This week we are looking at how heat can be utilised within facial treatments to benefit the condition of the skin.

The most popular method of utilising heat within massage until recently was with hot stones.  These are naturally occurring stones with a high iron content (basalt, for example) that hold heat well and are smoothed for comfortable application to the skin.  However, since 2009 there has been a new kid on the block in the form of Lava Shells.  This blog post is a comparison of the more traditional hot stone treatment and the relatively new Lava Shell therapy.
